Terms

21 September 2026

Plain terms for a simple app. The Cyprus Brief gathers headlines from Cyprus news sources you choose and helps you read them. By using it, you agree to what follows.

What the app is

A reader. It fetches publicly available feeds from news sources, lists their headlines, and opens their articles. It is not a publisher: it does not write, edit, commission or endorse any of the news it shows.

The news belongs to the publishers

Every headline, article, photograph and video shown in the app belongs to the news source that published it, and remains subject to that source’s own terms and copyright. The app shows you their material and sends you to their pages; it gives you no rights over any of it. Saving a story keeps a copy on your own device for your own reading, as a browser’s reading list does. So does the copy the app keeps of the newest stories so that they can be read with no signal: it sits on your device, it is discarded after a few days, and it goes nowhere else.

What we do not promise

The app is provided as it is. Feeds change, sources go down, pages move, and a headline may be wrong or out of date — the app shows what a publisher published, without checking it. Nothing here is advice of any kind, and decisions you take based on something you read are yours. To the extent the law allows, Garbis Tapacian is not liable for any loss arising from use of the app or from anything a publisher wrote.

Ad and tracker blocking

The app can refuse requests to known advertising and tracking companies while you read. This is a setting under your control and you may turn it off at any time. Paywalls and subscriptions are left alone: nothing in the app is designed to get past a publisher’s payment or sign-in.

Supporting the app

The app is free and every part of it stays free. If you want to, you may leave a tip or a small amount each month as a way of supporting the work. It buys no feature, lifts no limit and changes nothing about how the app behaves — that is rather the point of it. Payments are taken by Apple under their own terms; a monthly one renews until you cancel it in your App Store settings, and refunds are Apple’s to give rather than ours.

Fair use

The app is for personal reading. Do not use it to republish or resell what it gathers, and do not attempt to use it to place load on the publishers’ servers beyond ordinary reading.

Changes and availability

The app may change, and sources may be added or removed — usually because a feed stopped working. It may also stop being offered. None of that entitles anyone to compensation.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Cyprus.
